Taddy carries Endurocross points lead
into summer break…
Despite the bitter disappointment of failing to secure a second consecutive X Games Endurocross gold medal, reigning US Endurocross champion Taddy Blazusiak heads into the championship’s summer break as the leader of the 2012 point standings, ahead of team-mate Mike Brown and Taylor Robert. Faced with a 10-week break before the re-start of the Endurocross series, Blazusiak is now back in Spain and training hard, and looking forward to keeping himself busy during the coming months…
Taddy Blazusiak: “X Games Endurocross was every bit as big and exciting an event as I knew it would be, but things just didn’t work out for me this year. I was so disappointed after the final because I’d work so hard to be ready for the race. It’s the biggest Endurocross race of the year, so to not ride like I know I can, you know, it sucked. But now I’ve had a little time to look back on the race I guess it wasn’t all bad – I’m leading the championship point standings heading into the summer break so that’s a real positive. We’re not too far off the half-way point of the series so to be out front in the championship is important.
“The biggest thing I suffered with at X Games was my start, and maybe wanting to win too much. Once I got tangled up with another rider off the start I knew things would be difficult, but I still hoped I could win. As it turned out coming together with another rider off the start made things really difficult. It’s always hard having to work your way from the back of the race, especially when everyone wants to win X games medals. I also made things tough for myself by pushing too hard for a few laps. You don’t get much time in Endurocross to make up for bad starts and mistakes and by the time I’d settle down I didn’t have enough laps to get on the podium. Like I said it’s disappointing to miss out on another X games medal, but I’ll be back again next year and looking to put things right.>“There’s 10 weeks before the fourth round of the Endurocross series so it’s important that I keep myself busy. I’m really looking forward to the events I’ve got planned in the weeks and months ahead, and I’m really going to be mixing things up a lot to keep everything fresh and exciting. As my schedule’s not 100 per cent finalised there’s not too much I can say yet, just that what I have planned will be great for both my speed and fitness. I’ll have more details really soon…”
